HIV and AIDS is something that concerns us all. The simple yet often moving accounts in Brid Cullen’s book come from people who have been affected in different ways. The courage and determination of all these individuals shine through as encouragement to those who have just been diagnosed and their friends and families. This book shows that HIV and AIDS need not mean dying but rather living life to the full.

Brid Cullen has worked with the Corrymeela Community and since moving to Scotland has been involved in setting up SAFE (Support on Addiction for Families in Edinburgh).

‘The losses, the heartache and the sheer human magnificence AIDS has caused will remain indelibly printed in the minds of those who have been close to the story of HIV in Scotland. Colours of Hope and Promise brings it all vividly back into focus. In this moving book, Brid Cullen has allowed sixteen people involved in these wrenching events to tell their own stories. It is a story of sorrow and loss; but it is also a story of hope and unconquerable love.’ Bishop Richard Holloway

Customer Comments
I think I first read about AIDS in 1985 in The Sunday Times. I have to admit that since then I had categorised it as 'other people'. Since reading this book, I believe that the fear has been rationalised and this book should be introduced as standard text in secondary education. Thank you Brid.
