Ian M Fraser, a member of the Iona Community, wrote Reinventing Theology as the People’s Work in 1980 for two specific conferences that were to take place in the 1980s. Since then, the ideas it puts forward have become relevant in a much wider context and this book has helped to raise interest in people’s theology worldwide. Its underlying conviction is that just as ministry belongs to more than just the clergy, so does the task of theologising belong to all and not just to the professional theologian. Doing theology goes hand in hand with Christian living, and reflecting on faith accompanies Christian discipleship.
