Iona Abbey Worship Book , by The Iona Community
The services and resources in The Iona Abbey Worship Book reflect the Iona Community’s commitment to the belief that worship is all that we are and all that we do, both inside and outside the church, with no division into the ‘sacred’ and the ‘secular’. They draw on many traditions, including the Celtic, and aim to help us to be fully present to God, who is fully present to us – in our neighbour, in the political and social activity of the world around us, and in the very centre and soul of our being.
Each year, thousands of visitors make their way to Iona and many are changed by their time on this small Hebridean island which has been a powerful spiritual centre over the centuries. The Iona Community does not believe that we are brought to Iona to be changed into ‘religious’ people, but rather to be made more fully human. Our common life – including our services – is directed to that end.
This new edition of The Iona Abbey Worship Book (previously The Iona Community Worship Book) has been extensively revised and rearranged and includes much new material developed over the past two years by the resident group on Iona.

A Wee Worship Book , by Wild Goose Worship Group
Previous incarnations of this book have been used extensively throughout Britain and abroad by lay leaders, bishops, clergy trainers, youth groups, house groups, women’s groups, prisoners’ groups, worship groups – in fact absolutely anyone exploring transforming, creative and participative worship
All the new material has been used and tested continually in the light of comment and experience. Some material is incorporated from the previous edition.
This fourth incarnation contains the following liturgies: five for morning, two for daytime, five for evening, two for Holy Communion, and one set of Prayers for Healing. There are also fourteen chants (full music versions) appropriate to the liturgies.
A new feature is the introductory section, with hints on how to prepare for and use the liturgies to best effect. It includes guidelines for planning, leadership and environment, with pointers as to the use of music, the Bible, conversations and symbolic action.

This is an excellent resource book, a must for leaders of worship. The communion liturgies are very good and refreshing.

Iona Abbey Music Book, by The Iona Community
These 50 songs of challenge, change and encouragement are offered as a companion to the liturgies of the Iona Abbey Worship Book, which is used by an increasing number of congregations a long way from the island of Iona.
The songs recommended in the Worship Book as being relevant to the themes and theology of its liturgies are not always well known in other parts of the world. The Iona Abbey Music Book aims to fill this gap and provide access to the musical aspect of services in the Abbey.
Some of the songs included here have been published before in other collections, especially those by the Wild Goose Resource Group, but many are previously unpublished or currently not available elsewhere.

I Will Not Sing Alone (songbook) , by John L. Bell
John L. Bell and Graham Maule of the Wild Goose Resource Group joined with a diverse collection of musicians on the CD that accompanies this book to sing these songs of engagement with life and with God, all grounded in the passion and pain of Christian love.
The I WILL NOT SING ALONE songbook is a deliberately eclectic collection of words and music from different ages fused in new arrangements. There are ancient texts and modern texts, simple and sophisticated; choral anthems, folk tunes and contemporary syncopated melodies. The songs include exclamations of praise, meditative reflections on the love of God, and laments for the loss of a child and for countries at war.

Hear My Cry, by Ruth Burgess
Hear My Cry is a daily prayer book for Advent which can also be used as a prayer journal. It takes its inspiration from the Advent antiphons – a group of prayers that reflect on the character and activities of God.
The format for each day includes a Bible verse, an Advent cry and suggestions for prayer. The pages can be added to and personalised, with line drawings that can be coloured in and space to add your own pictures, reflections and prayers. It is a book to use on busy days and on quieter days, as time and circumstances allow.
Instructions for three workshops are also included to enable Advent themes to be explored in a group setting.
We enter the season of Advent with hope, seeking a space to wonder, to explore, to grieve, to smile, to remember, to sit still, to bring our cries to God.
