Digital download: A service for Christmas Eve – or alternatively Christmas Day – inspired by the poem ‘Getting to the front of the stable’ by Anne Weems which, says Nancy Cocks, helps us realise ‘how rarely we listen to Joseph, even on Christmas Eve. We seldom hear from him in our Christmas pageants and carols. He’s just there in his brown bathrobe. But Matthew makes Joseph out to be a man of dreams. In this service we’ll bring Joseph out from the back of the stable and listen to the dreamer.’
Nancy Cocks is a former Deputy Warden of Iona Abbey, after which she took up the post of professor at Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia and then served as minister of St John’s Presbyterian Church in Medicine Hat, Alberta before retirement. Nancy is the author of several books, including Invisible We See You and Growing Up With God.
