Digital download: From the book Wild Goose Chase, by Annie Heppenstall, this is a radical (in the true sense of the word) way in which a group of ‘ordinary’ people can share thanksgiving with confidence, drawing from the roots and scriptures of our faith, using a structure which follows a traditional act of worship. There is no one special prayer that only one person can say, no particular sacred ritual that can only be enacted by an ordained individual. All words, all actions, are shared out among the group.
The idea of this liturgy is that a group gathering in the name of Jesus is free to share peace, to give thanks and to break bread together, in the promise that when two or more gather in the name of Jesus, he is there with them. This is ancient belief and practice among Christians and, as in the oldest gatherings, the only requirement for joining in is wanting to.
This worship can be shared in a house-group setting, on a beach, in a field, in a car park or anywhere else where there is space and people find it easy to gather –perhaps even in a church!
Includes 4 songs with melody lines.
